“We enjoyed the day very much. It was a wonderful sunny Sunday, so the weather was perfect for this trip. Marsaxlokk is a beautiful fishing village and has a market on Sundays. The windless, sunny day was also perfect for the Blue grotto which was very enjoyable.”

Hop on a classic 70-year-old vintage bus from Valletta to Marsaxlokk on Sunday, with flexible full-day rides and time for the waterfront market.

“We recommend it to everyone but our advice is not to book this tour in advance! You can see timetable and meeting point and buy the tickets on site. One way ticket is 2,5 euros, round ticket is 5 euros. We booked it in advance, paid 14 euros for two of us but we needed just one way tickets, because we wanted to stay longer in Marsaclokk. That option was not presented to us in advance.”

★★★★★★★★★★3.0 · 65 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $36

Half-day tour from Valletta to Malta’s Blue Grotto and Sunday Marsaxlokk market, with pickup, cave views, and time to explore.

“Gita carina ma nulla di eccezionale, non la consiglio se si sta solo un weekend. Le grotte erano belle ma mi aspettavo molto di più. Sarebbe bello rimanere dopo la visita alle grotte una mezz'oretta in più per visitare un po' il posto; tempo recuperabile al mattino quando si vanno a prendere le persone, individuando meno punti di incontro (spesso le fermate erano molto vicine). Il mercato è grande e tutto sommato carino.”

5.Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk Half-Day Tour from Valletta

★★★★★★★★★★3.5 · 53 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $45

Half-day Blue Grotto and Marsaxlokk from Valletta, market time in a fishing port, with a weather-dependent boat trip.

“TOO rushed and TOO hot. They were 45 min late picking us up. Rushed. We ended up paying for a taxi to take us back to our hotel. My suggestion... Take a taxi to the Blue Grotto (you have to buy your own boat tickets anyway) then go on over to Marsaxlokk. Casually enjoy your time there and then go out to St Peters Bay and swim. This trip is a total waste of time and money.”

He also had an iPad available for us to review potential stops for the day and make our choice. Each location had a short video to explain what we would see. Would definitely recommend.”

Half-day shared tour to Marsaxlokk market and Qrendi, with optional Blue Grotto boat trip if weather allows.

“Well organized, very friendly guide, clear explanation in English and Italian. Enough time to see the market. The boat ride to the Blue Grotto was very nice. I would eliminate the trip to Qrendi, we stopped for 10 minutes, I didn't understand the purpose, because we only got off the bus in a small square to take a photo.”

A full-day Malta tour from Valletta to UNESCO Hagar Qim, limestone quarry history, Ghar Dalam cave, Marsaxlokk harbor, plus optional Blue Grotto boat.

“While the tour guide was excellent - well organized, informative, responsive - I was disappointed that we spent a very short time at Hagar Qim, didn’t get to see Mnajdra at all, and spent almost an hour at Limestone Heritage and the garden. I came to see the ancient ruins. We were rushed through viewing Hagar Qim in about 20 minutes, then later people were milling around the garden with nothing to do for 50 minutes waiting to leave. The times should have been reversed!”

Marsaxlokk: Boat Trip to St Peter’s Pool

12.Boat Trip to St Peter’s Pool

★★★★★★★★★★3.2 · 8 reviews · 1 hour · from $18

One hour from Marsaxlokk on a traditional LUZZU, cruising past St Peter’s Pool, bays, forts, and landmarks with life jackets included.

“The boat ride was good and we enjoyed the ride itself. However would not recommend pre booking with the website. It cost us over double for the children's tickets and the boat ride cost us over €20 more for our group overall, which made us feel really undervalued and cheated. The times were changed, the boat was different and customer services simply said that it was the price we paid for pre-booking a slot. There are plenty of companies on the harbour front so simply book with them.”

“First of all, they were late more than 30 min for pickup. Second of all, there was written that we'd spend about 1 hour in each place, but we spent less. It should have been a full-day trip, but we came back to the hotel at about 5 p.m. However, the guide - Maria - was great :)”
